While Coronavirus forces us to stay at home, let’s dive into visible mending on clothes that we loved but never wore because of their ‘imperfections’.
Caring for our garments
It is an important time period to realize how our lives have been unnecessarily fast and we felt like it did not make sense to mend a t-shirt, when just buying a brand new one was easier and cheaper. Now that life has to slow down and we are all being quaranteened, there is loads of time to get creative and mend our loved clothes.
Visible mending is a great way to repair clothes that have holes, stains or rips to make them look more beautiful. When Fast Fashion tells us to keep buying things that we will not have a deep connection with, actually all we need is less. All we need is to give love to what we already have in our wardrobes and take care of them. With using a few basic hand embroidery stitches, we can update the holes with some fun and unique design, which will make us love the piece of clothing more and more.
Good news is that, hand embroidery is washable and sustainable.
